Keep what matters
Understand the difference between remembered context and a document library.
Your space → Everyday → Memory
Before you begin
Memory configured in the app; some processing depends on the configured core model.
Review remembered context
Open Memory to inspect and search retained information. Use overrides for facts you deliberately want available as context.
Tune retention
Adjust the memory budget and retention settings to suit your work. Inspect the result over multiple conversations.
Give reference documents a home
Use Files & knowledge for curated material such as project standards. Memory and reference collections serve different purposes.
Controls & reference
| Control or concept | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Memory budget | Bounds the context supplied from remembered information. |
| Retention | Controls how long retained episodes remain eligible. |
| Your Overrides | Deliberate facts you want included in context. |
| Memory Recall | An agent capability for searching memory; distinct from the general memory switch. |
Try it with a small task
Add a non-sensitive preference, open a new conversation and ask a question that should use it. Inspect the stored item if the answer misses it.
If it does not work
- No recall: check memory enablement and the relevant agent capability.
- Unexpected context: inspect individual records before changing global settings.
Good to know
- Memory is separate from the model’s prompt cache.
- Clearing memory can be irreversible. Review what will be removed before confirming.
