Before you begin
A ready local model or configured provider. Tools depend on the selected custom agent.
Open a conversation
Choose an agent in the sidebar and start a new chat. Use Projects to collect related conversations and shared instructions.
Give the task context
Describe the desired result. If the task needs files, select a working folder for that chat; a new chat may not yet have a folder.
Follow the work
Read tool cards and approval requests as they appear. Answer a clarifying question to resume the task, and review the final response and any artifacts.

Try it with a small task
Create a small project and ask a custom agent to summarize a single reference document. Verify the cited content before expanding the task.
If it does not work
- Missing file: confirm the working folder and file path.
- An agent is waiting: inspect the current approval or clarification rather than sending the task again.
Good to know
- A project groups work; a device chooses where it runs.
- The built-in Mellow agent helps with setup and delegation. Custom agents perform hands-on tasks with their configured tools.
